FAQs

At Majestic Stone, we’re passionate about stone. Are you looking for some guidance on choosing the right stone product for your project? Our experienced team would love to connect with you and walk you through all of the considerations that are made while selecting the right stone for your job.

Do I have to seal my countertop?

Whether or not a sealant is required will, of course, depend on the material that is used. Natural stone products (granite, marble, onyx, slate, travertine and quartzite) are all porous materials and therefore, it’s very important to have them sealed. On the other hand, engineered stone products (quartz, porcelain, dekton) are non-porous and do not require a sealant.

Will my counter scratch or stain easily?

When it comes to stone countertops, engineered stone products are generally more easy to maintain than natural stone. Because natural stone products are made up of many different types of minerals, they all have different qualities. Some stones are softer and do scratch more easily, whereas others are more robust. If you are worried about scratching or staining your stone countertops, the best choice is typically to go with an engineered stone product which is more scratch and stain resistant.
